Please: go give blood, donate to the Red Cross, check in with hotels and BnB’s that might be hosting people who’ve been displaced and see if they need meals purchased or rooms paid for or whatever.
Donating blood helps your community. It’s okay that it’s not directly helping the people in Boston. Use this terrible thing to go do good “here at home.” You can make a financial or in-kind donation to your local food pantry, drop off some clothing at a homeless shelter, go take a Disaster Preparedness class from your local Red Cross (or First Aid, or CPR, or Lifeguarding…), go visit a shut-in, go shovel your neighbor’s sidewalk, go feed a parking meter.
Do random acts of kindness and let GOOD win the day.
