Whoa. Missed several days there.
I’m thankful for ice hockey. I’m thankful for the physical outlet it gives the boys, the lessons in sportsmanship and interpersonal relationships, the friendships with age-mates, the friendships (or at least positive relationships) with other adults – both coaches and other hockey parents, and I’m thankful that the ice rink has been a place where they were able to assert some independence in a safe environment.
The “traveling” aspect of travel hockey is slowing down now – we don’t have to go anywhere for the next several weeks since the out-of-town teams are now coming to us. It will be a quite welcome change to have everyone home for the whole weekend for a while.
